Patient Access
Consultations are by appointment and a full appointment system is run throughout the day. A doctor is available by telephone to discuss urgent medical conditions.
Your appointment will be booked with one of our fully qualified doctors, Advanced nurse practitioners or another member of our nurse team. However, you may not necessarily see, or speak to the doctor of your choice.
If you are unable to keep your appointment please let us know so that someone else has the opportunity of using it.
Nurse practitioners are experienced nurses trained to work at an advanced practice level to assess, treat and prescribe for patients with acute illness and long term conditions.
Please be aware that when you call the surgery for an appointment related to acute illness or long term conditions, your appointment may be made with our nurse Practitioners rather than with a GP. All reception staff have received sign post training and will be able to advise on the best person to see for example if you have toothache they may ask you to visit you dentist first.
You can consult any of the doctors at the surgery, but please try to keep the same doctor for the same problem.
We would like to remind patients that the time available per appointment is 10 minutes. It may not be possible to deal with more than one problem per consultation. If you feel that you need to discuss multiple problems, please mention this to the receptionist when booking your appointment. We appreciate your help with this.
Urgent Appointments During Normal Opening Hours
We can offer health advice and support in relation to self-limiting illness such as common colds, sore throats and earache over the phone your local pharmacist can also provide this service.
For more severe illness we have access to urgent appointments including on the same day.
Automated Check-in Screen
When you arrive at the surgery for your appointment, you can use the automated check in screen in the reception area to tell us that you have arrived.
The screen is there for the convenience of our patients and will avoid you having to wait at the reception desk. It only takes a few simple steps to log in your details.
If you require any help in using the check in screen, please ask at reception and a member of the team will guide you through the check in process the first time you use it.
