Kepier Medical Practice is a training practice helping in the recruitment of quality GPs into  General Practice. There will usually be a qualified doctor working in the practice who is training to specialize in general practice.

GP Register Trainer: Dr Jane Ancliff

General Practitioner Registrar (GPR): Dr Mohamed Mitwali (August 2022 – August 2023)

Medical Student Trainer: Dr Glynn Malone

Medical Students attend every Thursday during term time.

All  GPs and staff at Kepier support and encourage training in the practice

Registrar Training

We normally have one general practitioner registrar (GPR) in the practice at any one time.

GPRs are fully qualified doctors who are gaining more experience, under supervision in order to obtain accreditation as independent GPs. In order to gain as much different experience as possible, they usually only remain at a practice for six months at a time.

From time to time they may request your permission to video their consultation with you. This may be for training purposes or to prove to the accrediting body that they are ready to become a GPs. You have the right to refuse permission at any time – it will not affect your care in any way.

This is a valuable training tool (frequently used by the regular doctors for continuing [professional development). The videos remain strictly confidential and are only seen by GPs within the practice or examiners; they are destroyed after use.

Medical Student Teaching

We are involved in the teaching of medical students from the University of Northumbria.

Occasionally we may ask patients if they would be kind enough to help the teaching process by speaking to the students about their experience of their illness.

From time to time students sit in with a doctor during surgery, but you will always be told if a doctor has a student sitting in with them and you have the right to ask to see the doctor without the student present.

Simply let the receptionist know prior to your appointment. Your care will not be affected in any way.

Information Governance

Your information may be processed and shared with other health professionals for audit and training purposes. All students sign a disclaimer in respect of confidentiality.

Chaperone

All patients have a right to have a chaperone present during intimate consultations should you wish a chaperone to be present then please ask the receptionist to arrange this for you when you book your appointment.
